Sorry for the post-traumatic book stress. Hope you enjoy book 2 when it’s out!

  • Elise

    January 2, 2014 at 6:14 pm

Loved the literary allusions, the discussions of apostrophe and fragment usage, an alpha-male with a pet rabbit, his anxiety-ridden arrogance, and the too-good for any man Hannah. Yeah, the sex scenes were raw/hot/disturbing to missionary-positioned minds, but I liked the unique quality of the rest of H&M’s relationship, especially how he found her apartment upon first visit and, then, how the two decorated it into an unconventional “nest.”

    • M. Pierce

      January 2, 2014 at 7:23 pm

      Thank you so much Elise.

      • Elise

        January 2, 2014 at 8:39 pm

No, thank you. I read a lot of “literature” on the job, and enjoy “smut,” which I completely respect – ha, as an escape; your novel gave me both at same time – for .99 cents. I likely should have placed an exclamation mark at end of last sentence – LOL.

  • Stacy B.

    January 2, 2014 at 9:36 pm

This is fantastic. The mystery is titilating. Ha, what a great word. “M. Pierce – Titilating.” The sex is dirty and raw. And finally we meet Seth? I love this. I’m really impressed. I also can’t wait for more.

    • M. Pierce

      January 6, 2014 at 4:20 pm

Thank you so much Stacy. Titillating is good.

  • Erica

    January 4, 2014 at 9:36 pm

You need to teach a class on how to write sex scenes that are intoxicating and sans cheesiness. The dialogue felt natural, leaving me wanting more. And isn’t that the point? Thanks for such a smart and sexy book. Looking forward to reading more from you.

    • M. Pierce

      January 6, 2014 at 4:07 pm

I would love to teach a class like that. I’d be cracking up the whole time. Like a child.

Ahem. Thank you for your kind words. I enjoyed writing those sex scenes — I freely admit it. I’m so glad you enjoyed them.

    January 5, 2014 at 6:20 pm

  • Lisa

    January 8, 2014 at 8:19 pm

Holy hell…just finished Night Owl and stormed right over to this site to become even more perplexed!?!? I have no idea what is happening!! I understand the nature of a cliffhanger – but seriously?!? How are we supposed to wait until summer 2014 to know if Matt is really dead?!? I’m with a previous contributor – why in the world is Hannah thinking about Matt’s brother – esp when at first books end she’s only met Nate?? I can already tell, Last Night is going to be one helluva ride…Bring. It. On.

    • M. Pierce

      January 8, 2014 at 11:14 pm

Thanks for reading Lisa! Sorry to leave you in the lurch with that cliff. All will be clear with Last Light.

  • Judy

    January 9, 2014 at 10:58 pm

I just finished my first read of Night Owl just minutes ago. I’m still reeling from the epilogue! I laughed, I cried and I have to say, I loved reading this book and will definitely read it again. I’m hooked. Being originally from the Finger Lakes area of Upstate New York and spending my summers at “the lake” as a child this brought back fond memories. It also brought back sad and loving memories of the love of my life who lived in a cottage on Seneca Lake for many years until his death in 2009.

    • M. Pierce

      January 10, 2014 at 4:28 pm

Oh Judy, I’m sorry for your loss. How moving to hear that. I’d give anything for a cottage in the Finger Lakes region. Maybe I’ll end up there one day. Thank you so much for sharing this, and I’m very glad you enjoyed my book.

  • Christie Spears

    January 10, 2014 at 4:33 pm

I have never read a book that left me panting and breathless like this one has. It was amazing. The aggregsive sex scenes. The cross between anger and lust, oh. I couldn’t put it down. When I was finally able to fall asleep after reading this, I couldn’t keep Matt out of my dreams. I can not wait until this summer. I will definitely be purchasing the next installment in this trilogy. You arr a vert talented writer. 😉

    • M. Pierce

      January 12, 2014 at 2:32 am

      Thank you!

  • Colleen

    January 10, 2014 at 10:01 pm

Not sure where to begin…I am sad that I am through already! I felt like an addict all day at work trying to hide my kindle so I could sneak a few pages in while pretending to “work”! Often times I would have to get up and go outside just to “cool” off after some of those very descriptive scenes. And from this curvey gal a big thanks for allowing both Matt and Hannah to embrace her curves! Bring on book 2…. I miss them already!

    • M. Pierce

      January 12, 2014 at 2:29 am

Thanks so much for this comment. You’re very welcome for Hannah’s curves. Matt loves them and so do I. Cheers!

  • Elisa

    January 11, 2014 at 2:02 pm

I finished Night Owl this afternoon after purchasing it last night, breaking only for sleep, three cups of coffee this morning, and a spin class (in that order)! I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your writing and loved the book. Loved it! I have a big fat crush on Hannah and Matt and can’t wait to see what awaits them in book 2. If you don’t mind, I’ll just patiently creep around your blog until it’s released. You’ve got a fan in me – keep up the great work!

P.S. – My old roommate had a pet rabbit that looked straight from Bunnicula and peed on me every time I tried to hold him. I’ve held a grudge against rabbits since those days, but after reading Night Owl and seeing photos of your adorable pet, the ice around my heart is slowly melting away…

    • M. Pierce

      January 12, 2014 at 2:28 am

This is the weirdest thing. I was just talking about “Bunnicula” today. That kid’s book. How weird.

      Anyway… haha.

Thank you! I’m so glad to hear this.

I just got done with your book. I never stopped smiling! Read it straight threw. There were many wonderful things about this book. A perfect pace wonderful emotions a great story in every way. But most of all i wanted to tell you that i love how daring you were with the sex. Its about time i read about true and honest sex. I loved how blunt he was. How much he cherished her and took everything he wanted. It was rough, it was passionate, and i am just glad you didnt seem to hold back. It drove me crazy with lust. I am truly looking forward to the next book. Your teaser rocked my world. I think i’ll like the chase. 😉 And whats this with his brothers? My curiosity is peaked to say the least.
Thank you for writing. Never stop.

      April 5, 2014 at 2:23 pm

Crystal — thanks so much for stopping by and comment! I’m really glad you liked Night Owl, and especially glad that the very graphic sex was a turn-on rather than a turn-off. I was a little worried as I was writing it, but hey, someone has to go there. Much love, M.

I just finished reading Night Owl and what a story. I am really looking forward to reading the other two books.
Maybe its the way you wrote it but it makes the reader think you the writer telling the story of yourself and the woman in your life.
Matt does say the story never ends between him and Hannah. Loved it!
Keep writing your talent is definitely appreciated by me and I will continue to look forward to the next story. :)
